crazy rich Asians
This is an analysis of the film Crazy Rich Asain. In this analysis i will be talking about camera techniques and mise-en-scene.
The scene in question is a wedding. In this scene the set is a clear display of wealth. In this scene water starts flowing down the aisle. This turns it into a river. Then the bride walks down the water covered aisle. This scene is used to show the audience how wealthy the characters are. The wedding is clearly expensive and a way to show off their wealth. It's also used to draw an emotional reaction out of the audience. The set is so beautiful the audience would feel touched by this special moment.

The scene uses mise-en-scene to convey emotion. This is done when the best man is looking around the room then stops and smiles. Even though the audience can't see where he's, they can tell he is looking for his girlfriend. After the editor uses eyeline match to show he was looking at his girlfriend. In this shot there is no dialog but the love between the main characters is clear. The lack of dialog in this scene was used to make the scene more personal. Since the characters are communicating completely through emotion. This is a small moment with no dialog but is still powerful.

music video analysis
In this analysis I will be analysing the use of editing in a music video. This music video is for the song welcome to the black parade by my chemical romance
The video starts with a shot of a man in a hospital bed. Then does straight cuts to an old tv. This establishes the connection between the sick man and what's on tv. After this eyeline match is used to show the sick man staring at the tv. This tells the audience the sick man feels a connection to what's on tv. Since it’s implied that the man is about to die , the shot is meant to draw emotion. Using eyeline match tells the audience what's on the tv is significant to the narrative of the video. This makes it so the audience won’t ignore the tv therefore when the significance is made clear they won't be confused.
At 0:52 in the video the editor uses fade during a close up of the sick man's face. This is done to change to a shot of the man’s face with black painted around his eyes. This shot shows the man is changing due to what's on tv. By doing this the editor is showing how influential the tv show is. Using fade instead of wash means the screen goes black. The colour black connotes death meaning this fade could be suggesting something demonic may be happening to this man. This would make the audience interested in he plot of the video
gender representation

This is a film poster for x-men:dark phoenix. The poster have a woman as it's the main focus. this connotes she's the leader o the rest of the character on screen. By representing her as in charge they're subverting stereotypes. Woman stereotypically play a supporting role to men. instead of showing a man in a leadership passion as is stereotypical for action film, a woman is being used.
The characters in yellow and blue are all wearing the same thing, this uniform shows that no one is being sexualised. It also shows that all these characters are equal. This subvert the stereotype that men are more power or more important than woman. This also means everyone is fully clothed therefore no one is being sexualised. Showing that woman can have role that don't involve appealing to the male gaze.
the woman in this film poster show a white haired woman harnesing lightning . this represents her as powerful. by doing this their subverting the stereotype that woman are weak

The ad features a woman dressed in a bikini being framed from the waist down. this represents as a pair of legs to stare look at. framing her from the waist down means the audience can't even see her face or know who she is. she is being show used as a hot girl to stare at. this reinforced the stereotype that woman are only useful for there bodies. this also objectifies her by showing her as an object of male gaze.
in the ad the man is looking up at her crutch. this connotes that her only purpose in this ad is to be sexualised and draw the male gaze. by choosing to have the male model stare at the crutch the photographer draws the audiences attention to it. since this is a cologne for men the target audience would be men. by having the model look there its telling the audience that using their product will get them pretty girls. this connotes all that matter in a woman is her looks.
the headline for the ad says "real men score" this phrase is saying that to be a real man you should have sex. the phrase "real men" is often used to tell men how they must act to not be seen as weak. this phrase is often used to force men into following stereotypes for their gender. by using this ad pressuring Thor viewers into thinking that they must have sex to be seen as a man. therefore reinforcing the stereotype that the more sex men have the more of a man they are.
ethnicity representation

the character I'll be analysing is Todd from the game Detroit: become human.
the game uses costume to represent Todd as poor. this is shown by putting him in a dirty and plane costume. the costume looks old and worn-out which connotes that he can't afford new clothes. this subverts the stereotype that white people are middle class or higher but this character's costume suggested they're working class or unemployed.

This character's narrative in the game is an abusive father to a little girl. in the game he's an angry, unemployed alcoholic. There's different narratives depending on how you play. the different playthroughs end with Todd ever killing his daughter, forcing her to run away or being killed by her in self defence. all ending involve Todd being violent towards a young girl. even though this reinforces he stereotype that poor people are aggressive and bad parents it also subverts the stereotype that white people are calm and less aggressive then other race.

in this analysis I will be talking about the representation Luther from Detroit: become human.
Luther narrative starts off as him being the slave of a rich white man. This reinforces the stereotype that black people are below white. this also mirror the in slavement of black people in the 16th century.

objectification/ male gaze theory

this magazine cover represents caring about only beauty obsessed. this is done by having text that says "the super easy shape up plan that works for all women" this is suggesting that only women would want to know getting in shape. which reinforces the dominant ideology that skinny is the idea body for woman. this also reduces women down to their bodies. therefore, making it objectification.

the model on this magazine cover is represent sexually. this is done by having her wear a revealing costume which is a bikini. the outfit being so revealing means it appeals to the male gaze. it also objectifies the model by showing her only for her body. alternatively you could say the magazine cover is justified since it is talking about beach bodies therefore wearing a bikini makes sense. but the magazine is still reinforcing the ideology that this is the ideal body.
the flash
in this clip coloured lightning streaks are added when the flash is running. this is done to indicate who's running and to make the character look more powerful. the colour of the lightning corresponds to the flash's outfit which means the audience can tell who's running by looking at the lightning. this is helpful to the audience because sometimes the characters are running to fast to see they're face. it also show how powerful the characters are since bright lights and rays connote supernatural.

the clip has a non-diegetic score playing in the background throughout this is to add tention to the scene. but towards the end a violin is added while thawne is talking about how barry will die and he will win. this is done to add more drama to an already tense scene. this also gives the audience a sense of dread.
